Mourning in the Rainbow Light

As the tears fell down my face, I gazed at the rainbow beams of light pouring thru the

stained glass window at the funeral service and I was reminded of hope and faith.

The gently, dancing light beams of rich , jewel tones caressed the church in the ancient

promise made to Noah of light at the end of the flood, of brighter days ahead,

of rebirth at the sign of the rainbow.

As I tuned back in to the mass, I heard the words of the song being sung. As the tears

renewed their vigor of filling up my eyes, I heard the voice of Jerry, the dearly departed,

joining his voice with the others , in verse, to sing "and in dying we are born to eternal life".

It was then, that I had to

smile through the tears and got a glimpse of him in spirit form, smiling and holding both

hands up, by his side, in seeming gratitude and joy, and my heart smiled.

Just a few days before Jerry had transitioned to the other side of the veil, and as we sat

with his wife that night, weeping in protest at his departure, I had looked up to see him

standing joyfully by us, next to his back door in the family room where we all sat, observing

us. He looked so happy and vibrant.

The next day he told me to let his daughter know to

keep using her paintbrush/pencil, that he's proud of her talent as an artist.

Later on, while waiting in line at the

viewing, he let me know that he felt a special devotion to the Virgin Mary . About an hour

after that, as I prayed in front of his casket, he mentioned that the tie and shirt he was

wearing for his viewing were in the pale blue of the Virgin Mary, and that it made him happy

to have Mary's color on.

God bless Jerry- precious, joyful spirit.

May we all find the rainbow promise of good things ahead and see the signs of hope when

our path gets rocky and tears flood our vision.

Love, light and shine bright,

Kristy

Passing with Grace, Love, Joy and Style

Grace, love, joy and style forever : A dear friend of mine lost one of her friends this week at the tender age of 51, after 8 months of lung cancer.

The beautiful soul that passed, Kathy, is so inspiring.

She loved life and made sure she showed it by wearing her trademark leopard print thru treatments and picking out her funeral dress in leopard print.

The past 2 weeks were spent having friends visit her and as they came to see her, she gifted them a lavender scarf for lung cancer, to remember her by.

She picked out favors to be given out at the funeral (angel pins with 'believe' on them) and ordered leopard ties for the men to wear at the funeral tomorrow.

She told friends and family that she would give them signs from the other side when she got there and what to look for.

She asked if they had messages for her to give their passed on loved ones, since she'd see them soon.

Wow! I am inspired. (btw, her friends all went shopping for leopard outfits to wear to the funeral tomorrow. I wasn't the only one she inspired!)

May we all shine our love and ourself so bright when it's our time to walk into the light.
God bless you, rest in joyful peace Kathy.

love and light, Kristy

Dusting Off the Ashes & Finding Forgiveness

It's 3/26/13-  6 days till the burned down shell of my in-laws house
will be bull-dozed (on Easter Monday).
Wow, it's another level of emotions to process.
Who knew?
I just keep reminding myself how the Phoenix arises from ashes,
reborn into a new life,
much like the Christian meaning of Easter.

Time to dust the ashes off. Time to grow and blossom.

I realize now, I haven't even begun to think about
the thieves/arsonists who performed this act of malice,
3 weeks before Christmas 2012.
We've just been focused on one day at a time,
of sorting through black dust and looking for light.

The losses that hurt the most
aren't the china dishes and gold jewelry,
but in items like the unicorn mural painted
on a bedroom wall by a hopeful teen (25 years ago now),
the kitchen that hosted so many family dinners made with love,
and the growth charts penciled in on wallpaper
that span 40 years of kids and grandkids.
Ahhh, so many lessons on the letting go of the material stuff
and remembering that the memories live within us,
forever in our hearts.

Since it's a time of Spring, of Easter, of rebirth,
it's a good time to focus on releasing things
that no longer serve us,
so that our energy is freed up to allow in new growth,
 possibility and abundance.
A good time for forgiveness,
so that we can move forward unencumbered by old emotions.

Forgiveness doesn't mean we are "okay" with the acts of another,
it just means that their act no longer has any power over us.

For the next blog entry,
I'll share with you some beautiful forgiveness techniques.
For now, I realize I must go and practice these techniques
for myself,
as the demolishing of my husband's chilhood home
grows closer on the horizon and
the lessons of "letting go" are being processed.

Wishing you grace in 'letting go' of that which no longer serves you,
easy forgiveness and peace in your life.
Namaste,
Kristy

Through the Fire and Ice, a Winter of Wonder

Happy February! The month of celebrating Heart-Space!
Here in New Jersey, we are chilling out with the latest snowfall, turning our landscape into a winter wonderland of glistening snow. Our town only had about 4 inches, so it's easy to just witness the beauty without much effort involved. As I gaze at the winter wonders out my window, I have to appreciate the wonders within my own life.
For it has truly been a time of fire and ice for my family these past 3 months.

I am grateful for the crisp air that helps cool the memories of dealing with November 30, 2012, when burglars burned down my in-laws house in an arson fire after they stole sentimental jewelry from them, leaving them with not much material possessions. So far, there's about 10 things retrieved from the burned out shell of a former family compound of 35 years. I love that the first few things retrieved from the devastation were rosary beads, a statue of the Virgin Mary, a necklace and a mosaic gift my children had made for my mother-in-laws August birthday .
"You can steal from a house, but you can't take away the heart of a home when it's built on God and love."
Those words were channeled through me in the darkest of days, when reality set in, and they mean sooo much to me, even now, becoming a mantra for me when the sadness creeps in over the material losses, reminding me too, that my mother and father and law weren't home that day and are healthy.

Getting through the initial days of shock, in the beginning of December, I was pleased to have a visit from my precious Great Aunt Rose, who passed away 8 years ago. Through my tears I told her how happy I was to see her, but I expressed my surprise at her visit, since I hadn't "experienced" her in a while. She reminded me that she had dealt with a fire at her house ( due to a dryer vent that needed to be de-linted), many years before, and was at my side to comfort me and get me through this time, to deliver a 'hug' from the other side. I am so grateful for the open-mind God has given me that I am able to know and acknowledge visitors when they come to me from the other-side. We all have this ability, but often don't pay attention to it or don't want to deal with it.
I am grateful for the healing that has begun amongst my family members, and for the fire that burns within our hearts, to keep us going through tough times, continuing to ignite our spirits with hope.

Most certainly I am glad for the spiritual tools I have in my toolbelt that has helped my family and myself to get through the journey at this time.
Watching my 9-year old daughter cope with her upset, by coloring 13 mandala pictures in her bed one night, on her own, helped to keep me centered and focused on sharing these tools via workshops.
Mandala's are tools for healing, in case you aren't sure what they're about. They can be just a pretty image if you want, or they can calm the healing heart by providing a safe, nurturing expression of self. Never underestimate the power of coloring :)
That being said, I have some exciting news to share with you!

Walk With Me, a new show about Lola Irizarry's spiritual journey, that will air on Comcast/Fios/PhillyCam beginning in March 2013,will be taping at a couple of my February workshops! Join us and be a part of it all on Tues 2/12/13 at the Heart Mandala workshop, 7-9pm, at NJBalance Wellness Center, 43 S. Main street, Meford Village, NJ 08055.
May your Valentine's Day and month of celebrating love, shower you with abundance, healing, new opportunities and joy.
May your heart always be alight, through the darkest of days, igniting your spirit with hope.
